Wednesday were beaten 1-0 by Wycombe Wanderers over the weekend to make it four defeats in a row for the first time since 2018, and there has been plenty of discontent from the Owls fanbase as they remain rooted to the foot of the Championship table on -4 points.

SWFC have had four different permanent managers during Dejphon Chansiri’s time at the club, with three being fired and one – Steve Bruce – walking away to take on a job elsewhere.

Now, with pressure mounting, we looked back on how things ended for the others…

Stuart Gray

Gray’s exit from Hillsborough was no unsurprising as many expected new owner, Chansiri, to bring in his own man at the start of his first full season in charge, however he was at least given until the end of the 2014/15 season.

His final game in charge was a 1-1 draw against Watford at the end of that season, and his record of winning just two of his last 10 games may have made up the chairman’s mind.

Carlos Carvalhal

Under Carvalhal, the Owls twice came close to promotion. Missing out in the Play-Off final in his first term before losing in the semifinals in his second.

Wednesday spent big money as they sought a top-flight return, and the final nail in the Portuguese’s coffin turned out to be a 2-1 defeat to Middlesbrough in 2017 – like Gray they’d won two of their last 10.

Jos Luhukay

For Luhukay, he was never really taken to by Wednesday fans, and it was under his tutelage that they last lost four Championship games in a row – that wasn’t the end of his term, but it was close.

The Dutchman did leave, however, after losing 2-1 to Swansea City just before Christmas in 2018, with just one win in his final 10 games in charge.

This weekend will see Wednesday play their 10th game of the 2020/21 season against a Bournemouth side that are yet to lose a game this season, and with two wins from their last nine since a new technical team and playing personnel were brought in, they’ll be desperate to get back to winning ways.
