That’s according to assistant boss Lee Bullen, who speaking exclusively to The Star said he had no reason to believe that there have been any hiccups in negotiations with the players and that despite speculation linking a number of clubs with Fox, neither player has received a formal offer elsewhere.

Eight senior players are approaching the end of their contracts and with changes expected in terms of personnel, manager Garry Monk has outlined the pair as the club’s priorities over the coming weeks.

“I'm aware they had initial discussions and that they are ongoing,” Bullen said. “Luckily with the modern technology around it's very easy to stay in touch with people.

“Both lads have had fantastic seasons, obviously, that's in part down to themselves, but it's also in no small part down to the football club in supporting them.

“Foxy went through a hard time and Fletch last season obviously had one or two injuries and never really got going. This season he's been fantastic, he’s overcome that injury and is coming back to full fitness.

“I think both lads are really happy and their families are really happy, so we are very, very confident that something can be done.

“But ultimately, until something is signed, you just never know. You never know who could come out of the woodwork and offer them something that's out of this world. Talks are positive and well down the road.”

Bullen, who oversaw seven matches in his third spell as caretaker boss ahead of Monk’s arrival in September, also revealed that the club are in the process of discussing the contracts of younger players, most of whom have trained with the first team at times throughout the season.

He said: “We pass the information on to Garry, who has delegated that onto myself and Thommo [Neil Thomspon] and Nicky Weaver, so we speak to Stevie Haslam and his coaches.

“Then if any decisions are made or any recommendations we pass it on to Garry who makes the decisions along with Stevie.”
