Injured Sheffield Wednesday left-back Morgan Fox was handed his third player of the month award of the season at Hillsborough on Saturday as he took the prize for January.

Fox’s form has been a rare positive in a miserable start to the year for the Owls, who crashed to a 3-0 home defeat to Reading on Saturday to extend their goalless start to 2020 at Hillsborough.

Liam Palmer deputised for Fox, who is on the comeback trail from an ankle injury sustained in the Owls’ defeat at Wigan last month. It is Fox’s second player of the month award of the season, he also won for October, drawing him level with Steven Fletcher. Fox’s partner on the left Kadeem Harris said: “He’s done brilliantly. As soon as I came I just thought he was one of the main players.”
