The Owls have plenty of attacking options in the form of Rhodes, Steven Fletcher, Atdhe Nuhiu, Fernando Forestieri and Sam Winnall.

Although Forestieri is currently sidelined by a knee injury, manager Garry Monk is still able to call upon Rhodes, Fletcher, Nuhiu and Winnall going into the pivotal Christmas period.

Rhodes and Fletcher have been paired together up front in the last two matches and repaid Monk's faith, hitting five goals between them in the Owls’ draw at Derby County and emphatic win over Nottingham Forest.

"There is real competition for places at the club with Fletch, Sam, Atdhe and Nando," said Rhodes.

"We all just try our best when we put on the Sheffield Wednesday shirt.”

Rhodes ended his 20-month wait for an Owls goal with a devastating first half hat-trick at the City Ground.

“Each day is a chance to impress.

“With that mentality in mind, I’ve tried to keep my head down and stay as positive as possible.

"You never get too high or low as a striker.

“You try and give your best and it is great when you get that reward."

Rhodes was named in the English Football League team of the week following his goal-scoring exploits at Forest.

His treble saw him become only the fourth player in Wednesday's history to score a first half away league hat-trick.
