The Owls suffered their worst ever defeat to their South Yorkshire rivals on Wednesday night, with a tumultuous first half seeing them concede three goals, a penalty and a red card – alongside the fact that Aden Flint went off with what looked like a hamstring injury.

After the game, which ended up being the first time the Millers scored three past the Owls since 1976, Monk was questioned on how long he had to turn around the fortunes of the last few games, although insisted that it wouldn’t be up to him.

Monk told the media, “It’s not a question that I can answer… All I can do is work as hard as I can.

“It turns around very quickly, we’ve had two performances that have been below par for what we need and what we’re demanding.

“These three games will be a big answer to the questions that you and I have. I try and stay balanced, keep the anger inside me, but the last two games have not been good enough at all.”

Next up for the Owls is a big game away at Wycombe Wanderers over the weekend as they seek to halt a three-game losing streak that has seen fan pressure heap upon the Wednesday boss from the fanbase.
