What Garry Monk said about the possibility of including new signing Manuel Hidalgo in his side to face QPR

Reiterating the Argentine’s position in his thinking after the youngster’s first full week at the club, the Owls boss said he has some work to do before he is considered ready for the seniors.

Asked whether Hidalgo could make the matchday squad Monk said:

“No. As I said, he’s been brought in initially to work with the under-23s, to build him up through there.

“As it is with young players, it’s more of a long-term view. He’s missed a little bit of football. So he’s there to train and get fit.

“Like all the young lads, when the opportunity to come to the first team, if they’re doing well enough, that’ll be then.”
