A win for Wednesday could potentially see them climb out of the Championship’s bottom three after they picked up a victory over Middlesbrough on Tuesday night, and Neil Thompson is set to be in charge once again as Dejphon Chansiri continues to hunt for Tony Pulis’ replacement.

The Owls have a number of players out injured at present as they nurse several back from their respective knocks, including Adam Reach and Joost van Aken, who missed out yesterday evening due to hamstring and groin problems.

When asked about the duo, Thompson said, “I don’t think they’re major injuries, and they were touch and go tonight - but they were just not there.

“They only get injured on Saturday, so we’ll see how they are over the next couple of days and hopefully they’ll come back into the fray - if not, we’ll go with what we’ve got.”

Meanwhile, it seems unlikely that Massimo Luongo and Julian Börner will be back in action against Derby, with Thompson saying that they’ll be assessed in the next week or so.

He told the media, “Mass is still nursing his knee a little bit, we’ll have a look at him in the next week or so.

“Julian took a bang to the head and it’s been a little bit slower than we thought, but that’s something - over the next week or so - that we’ll be able to assess.

“He did a bit more running on the training ground yesterday and seemed to be a little bit better with it.

“It’s a head injury, a big topic at the minute, and something we’ve got to tread carefully with.”

Wednesday are now three games unbeaten in the Championship and have moved up to 22nd place in the table, however 23rd-placed Rotherham United do have two games in hand on them.
