Wednesday needed a win after the collapse against Oxford United, and there were a couple of debutants thrown into the starting XI in an attempt to cut out the goals that cost them last time out.
Marvin Johnson’s early goal proved to be enough to claim all three points, but it should have been more as plenty of chances were spurned over the course of the game.
The Owls move up the table to eighth, leapfrogging today’s opponents.
Here's how we rated the Wednesday players...

5. Marvin Johnson - 7
Took his goal really well, and could have had a second in the second half as well after driving a shot past the post. A solid showing from him before being taken off with a - hopefully minor - injury. Can't fault his performance. Photo: Steve Ellis

6. Nathaniel Mendez-Laing - 8
The wide player was a real menace to the Ipswich defence, and gloriously set up the opening goal... He should have had one himself, but even with that miss he will be really pleased with his personal showing. Photo: Steve Ellis

7. Massimo Luongo - 8
Another afternoon of Luongo doing Luongo things, playing a crucial role in the centre of the park as he continually broke up play. Showed some excellent passing range as well, and showed why he's so important. Photo: Steve Ellis

8. Barry Bannan - 7
The skipper showed snippets of his quality throughout the afternoon, and nearly scored a belter from the edge of the box. A tidy performance if not a spectacular one from Bannan on a cold afternoon at Hillsborough. Photo: Steve Ellis
