Chris Waddle was arguably one of the most naturally gifted footballers to have graced the English game in the modern era – with Sheffield Wednesday supporters witnessing his sumptuous skills for four delightful years at S6.

The former Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and England men joined the Owls from French side Olympique Marseille for just £1m in July 1992.

He went on to make 109 appearances for Wednesday, scoring 10 goals, and was voted the Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year in 1993. Waddle’s performances during his four-year spell at the club will live long in the memory of the Hillsborough faithful as he helped guide the Owls to the FA and League Cup finals in 1993.
