And Sheffield Wednesday supporters responded in kind as they always do as their side prepared to take on Portsmouth in their League One curtain-raiser at Hillsborough.
A raucous rendition of the Owls’ rallying cry ‘Hi Ho Silver Lining’ was belted out just before kick-off to signal the start of the season at S6.
Though some way short of the sell-out we saw when the two sides met last time out, Hillsborough was rocking.
