Video: Sheffield Wednesday still yet to reach top gear, says The Star's Dom Howson

It wasn't pretty but the snatching of three points against Rotrherham United is all that matters to Sheffield Wednesday at this stage of the season.

Steven Fletcher's penalty sealed the win in the dying minutes and although the Owls didn't play well, The Star's Dom Howson says that can be looked upon as a positive as the team are yet to truly show their full potential this season, yet still are in sixth place in the Championship table.

"We are at the halfway point of the season and Wednesday are well placed without, most people will agree, hitting top gear on a consistent basis," he said. "There's still a lot more to come from this group and in theory they should only get stronger as Fernando Forestieri who was suspended will be available for the Boxing day match at Newcastle; there's Gary Hooper to return, Marco Mathias. There are a lot of players coming back into the mix at Wednesday and competition for places."
