Carlos Carvalhal believes Will Buckley will be the latest player to have his career put back on track at Sheffield Wednesday.
The Owls head coach acknowledges Buckley - who joined on a season-long loan from Sunderland on Friday - has not produced his best form in recent seasons.
But he says neither did a host of signings the club made a year ago only for the likes of Barry Bannan and Fernando Forestieri to have excellent seasons for Wednesday.
And Carvalhal is backing Buckley to do the same.
"Buckley is one good example of what we are doing here at Sheffield Wednesday," Carvalhal said.
"If you remember last season when we brought in five or six players who didn't really do well the previous one or two seasons. But we recognised when we analysed them that they have abilities.
"Of course, now it is easy to talk that we have a fantastic Barry Bannan, Jack Hunt, Fernando Forestieri.
"But I remember that when they arrived at the club, we know they are fantastic players but the previous seasons, they were not at a high level. But then they did a high level for us.
"Buckley is exactly the same. The last two seasons, he didn't do well. He knows that.
"But we recognised his abilities.
"Our target for him, we must create the environment for him to bring the maximum and the best abilities he has. He has it inside.
"We try to discover the best way, not with pressure, we will give him time, to give what we need to our team.
"If he plays at the best level he can, he can really help the team like some of the players I mentioned. They were fantastic for the club last season because they had the abilities inside."
