Jose Semedo has committed his future to Sheffield Wednesday by signing a new one year contract.
"I'm so happy to have signed a new deal," he said. "I am where I want to be. I am where I always dreamed and wished to be.
"Thanks to everyone for all their support. Hopefully it can be another successful season for Sheffield Wednesday.
"I'm looking forward to the new campaign. It is not only me but all the supporters and the city are looking forward to the new campaign. Hopefully we can do better than last year.
It has been expected that the Portuguese midfielder would be released by the Owls at the end of last season, and he himself appeared to bid goodbye to supporters following the away trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers late last season.
But the popular 31-year-old was offered a new contract and has agreed terms to extend his stay with the club beyond five years.
Semedo has made 156 appearances for Wednesday, scoring two goals, since joining from Charlton Athletic in the summer of 2011.
He played a major role in the League One promotion winning side during his first campaign.
