VIDEO: George Hirst set to play for the Sheffield Wednesday Under-23s against Leeds United tomorrow

Manager Jos Luhukay has revealed George Hirst is back training with the first-team and says the striker could be involved in their development match at Leeds United tomorrow.

The talented forward, who scored 40 goals for club and country last season, has not featured during the 2017/18 campaign for the Under-23s or at senior level due to a contract dispute. His deal expires at the end of the season. But speaking at his press briefing today, Luhukay said: "He has trained with us this week and he plays tomorrow with our Under-23s. That is a positive situation."I don't know how is the future but at this moment he is training and can also play for us."

Luhukay was keen to stress it will take Hirst time to get up to match speed."He's a young player but not played for seven or eight months," he said. "He needs match games to come into his best level. I know he's a very talented young footballer."
