Dave Jones, the Sheffield Wednesday manager, felt there were plenty of positives to take from their 1-0 pre-season friendly victory over Glasgow Rangers last night, writes Dom Howson.
Michail Antonio’s scruffy 12th minute strike ensured the Owls edged an entertaining clash in front of more than 16,000 spectators at Hillsborough.
Jones said it was a good “work-out” for his troops. The Owls chief, in his post-match press conference, also confirmed goalkeeper Chris Kirkland was taken off in the first half due to dizziness and that youngster Rafa Floro did not feature because of a slight thigh problem.
Jones plans to speak to Milan Mandaric, the Wednesday chairman, to discuss trialist Kamil Zayatte’s future. The defender has started in the club’s last three warm-up matches.
“Kamil is an experienced player,” he said. “He has great qualities.
“I like him. It is just whether he is affordable and everything else.”
