VIDEO: Carlos Carvalhal's view on Fernando Forestieri's red card as Sheffield Wednesday beat Preston North End

Forestieri scored for the third game in a row to put Wednesday in front but was red carded in the second half after an off-the-ball clash with Ben Pearson.

When asked what had happened, Carvalhal replied: "I didn't see it." He added: "Probably the referee is correct. Probably. But I'm not sure because I didn't see it."

On the game itself, Carvalhal said he was pleased by the performance of his team against a 'tough' side in Preston, who had pressed near the end before having two players sent off - Eoin Doyle and Jermaine Beckford were shown red cards for fighting each other.

"Pre-match we talked about how this Preston team is, an organised team and very tough to play against," said Carvalhal. The last three away games they won at Norwich and drew at Brighton and so on.

"We prepared, I think, very well for the game. The first minutes we pressed a lot, when we achieved the goal, I think we deserved it. After this, (Wallace and Loovens' injuries) we must change a few players. But the players that we decided on did well."

The Portuguese also acknowledged the hard work and character of the team when going down to ten men, not least because Will Buckley, who had been injured while winning the penalty, was forced to play on as Wednesday had used up all their substitutes.

"Our team showed how much they wanted to win and the quality of the group. They did fantastic team work. We had to concentrate with nine-and-a-half players, because Buckley was just a body there, he couldn't move too much."
