The Owls lock horns with their South Yorkshire rivals at midday on Sunday afternoon in the second meeting of the season between the two sides, with Moore looking to complete a double over Paul Warne by securing a vital three points at Hillsborough.

Both sides have injury concerns, however the Owls were missing 10 senior players for their win over high-flying Wigan Athletic earlier this week, and it remains to be seen whether anybody will be back available for selection by the time this weekend’s game rolls around.

Key Events

  • The Owls have plenty of injury concerns
  • They take on Rotherham on Sunday

Paul has done a fantastic job - he’s created a clear identity there.

They’re really strong in midfield, with a trio that compliment each other too.

I think it’ll be a great game, because the form of both clubs is good for the area and great for the locals. It’s wonderful to see both doing well in the league.

Both go into Sunday’s game in the ascendency, which is good. It bodes well for an exciting game, and I hope it lives up to it.

I think all three are complimenting each other really well... The understanding, the intensity that they bring, and the cohesion they bring has been great to see.

They’re all good players, they understand the game, and individually are on top of things.

He started well, but we realised that the level of football he’d been at the last couple of years has not been at the physical level as here. He’s robust though, and has put in a lot of work behind the scenes. He’s chomping at the bit, but he’s got to wait for that next opportunity.

When I look at him now, he’s at a place where I feel he can compete more. I’m sure that, with game time, he can get the ball in the net.

Honestly, it came into my thoughts for 24 hours, but I’ve been down the free agent market and it takes 4-6 weeks to get them up to speed and then games to get them match sharp - by that time we’ll have our injured players back.

Unless there’s a standout figure who ticks all the boxes with fitness I’ve closed that option.

We think Mide is still weeks away, his is a longer-term injury, but we still feel that there’s still a large part of the season to go and that he can be back in at the back end of the season. What a player to have coming back, and that’s why we’ve kept the option open.

He’s in early rehab, and over the next few weeks he’ll be starting to do some activities. We’ll see how it goes.

We feel that with both, Gibson is probably just ahead of Iorfa... Next week is a big week, and by next week I should be in a position to say that they’re ready to get close to the first team.

They’re back in the group, and they both look in great condition. Hopefully in a few weeks, all being well.

DM on Gregory and Windass

Lee is making good progress but still feeling his knock a bit - he won’t be back this weekend.

Josh is still with the medical team, he’s not around.

All three are making great progress... We don’t quite have Chey back with us yet, but Dom and Lewis are back on the training ground and involved around the squad again.

We’re looking at their volume, increasing that, and then maybe giving them some in house games. They’re making good progress - Chey’s a bit behind, but not too far.

And we spoke to Liam Palmer, too...
