'Too little, too late, tactically inept" - Sheffield Wednesday fans react to Fulham defeat after conceding five

A spirited second half performance from the Owls was not enough to stop them suffering a 5-3 defeat against a talented Fulham side at Craven Cottage.

The Owls lost 5-3 at Fulham on Saturday.

Two goals from Alexsander Mitrovic, including a penalty, and a strike from Neeskens Kebano put the hosts well in control at the break. Atdhe Nuhiu came off the bench to score from the spot, but Fulham regained their advantage with a clever free-kick as Kebano grabbed his second. Jacob Murphy’s deflected effort and Nuhiu’s second of the game gave Wednesday hope, but Scott Parker’s team made sure of the points when Bobby De Cordova-Reid scored Fulham’s fifth, who ended the afternoon with 10 men after Harrison Reid was sent off late on. Here’s what Wednesdayites had to say after the match…

@Owlstalk: “It's no good getting angry at Monk because you want Monk sacked. He doesn’t hire and fire the managers at this football club.”

@Beardhiker: “Lost to one of the best teams in the division. What were people seriously expecting today? Let's be real.”

@_ae19_: “That shows fight and desire but a lack of quality, which as far as I am aware, we all knew anyway. Rebuild and move forward lads.”

@StevenFox999: “What a weird game, but ultimately we were just too soft. Sad to say but 2 if not 3 of Fulham’s goals should have been kept out. But the worst thing is, no-one knows if it even matters - are we already relegated, are we already safe? Complete farce!!”

@Paulcla87047621: “Managers get their tactics wrong from time to time, that's life....But Monk gets them wrong more than most. Far to many games under Monk when we have conceded 4+ goals.

This guy was a defender for god sake. Need that experience of Westwood between the sticks I'm afraid.”

@keiron1972: “Too little too late, should have made a sub or two when Fulham went 1-0 up and was dominating the game & the second goal was inevitable! Tactically slow & inept, Monk!”

@JjessStone: “If we played like we had in the second half for the whole game, we would have had a chance.”

@KaneMoran6: “Why Murphy didn’t start I dont know.”
