Speaking after his side’s 2-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest, he said he would give an honest appraisal of the issues he has uncovered during his first month in the Hillsborough hotseat and made clear it was an appraisal he ‘wouldn’t sugarcoat’.
Pulis made clear that the meeting was scheduled at the outset of his appointment. At his very first press conference the Owls manager vowed to be honest with the chairman and suggested previous managers had been guilty of ‘telling him what he wanted to hear’.

“There’ll be no sugarcoating, there will be no pussy-footing around. I’ve been in the game a long time, I’ve seen clubs in this situation and I’ve seen what it takes for clubs to get out of this situation and it’s a task, it’s a difficult job.”
Asked whether he was able to divulge what he would be reporting to Chansiri in the meeting he smiled: “You’re joking aren’t you?”
He said: “He’s spent a hell of a lot of money on the football club over the past five years and I understand his frustrations on the squad of players that he’s been left with. You can only do your best and I think they’re doing their best.”
