Goalkeeper Keiren Westwood, brought into the side after a year off the pitch under previous manager Garry Monk, hobbled off with a groin injury in Wednesday evening’s 1-1 draw at Swansea.

And Pulis confirmed that the 36-year-old will miss at least a fortnight, while talisman defender Dominic Iorfa will not be rushed back despite his importance to the side.

“Keiren has had a scan and has a grade two tear, which will be a couple of weeks,” he said.

“Dominic is getting closer and we’re going to have to see over the next seven days.

“I’m desperate for him to play, I’m desperate for Windass to be in the team, Dunkley, Iorfa. We’re not going to get Flint and Marriott back for a long time. I’m desperate to get them all fit.”

Pulis has spoken about at length about the club’s ability to monitor the fitness of the squad, claiming the club has had too many soft tissue injuries in its recent history.

“We mustn’t put them in too early and then lose them again for a big period,” he said.

“The balancing act is so difficult because. We’re playing Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Wednesday. The games are just flying through and you’ve got to be very, very careful with these players.”

Wednesday will be boosted by the return to contention of Kadeem Harris, who is available having served a three-match ban for his red card in their win over Bournemouth earlier this month.
