Should Kieran Lee feature at Championship leaders West Bromwich Albion this Saturday, it will be his 200th outing in Owls colours.

So far Lee has racked up 171 starts, 28 substitute appearances and weighed in with 22 goals since moving to Hillsborough in May 2012.

The Stalybridge-born man, recruited on a free transfer by Dave Jones, was initially regarded as a right-sided player.

But Lee was eventually converted into a midfielder by Stuart Gray and the former Manchester United trainee has flourished in that role.

Lee was a key member of the Owls team that reached the play-offs in back-to-back seasons under Carlos Carvalhal.

A raft of injuries limited Lee to just 17 senior outings as Wednesday secured mid-table finishes in 2018 and 2019.

But the 31-year-old regained full fitness at the back end of last season and was rewarded with a new one-year contract.

Lee has been in and out of the side this term but still played on 13 occasions, including starting the last two fixtures against Blackburn Rovers and Swansea City.

On Lee’s recent performances, boss Garry Monk told The Star: "He has been fantastic. I think he has been brilliant. Really effective.

"In the midfield area, Massimo [Luongo] scored a few goals in that period before he got injured.

"Kieran has contributed really well but we have got Hutch [Sam Hutchinson], Joey [Pelupessy] and Barry Bannan.

"The skill sets of those five are all quite different and that is a real bonus for us. It will help us in certain games in terms of combinations and freshness. It is good to have that selection definitely.
