The Owls job is one often highly sought after and, with plenty of time left for a turnaround, is expected to be again despite the dificult situation that they find themselves in.
Neil Warnock is a name that splits opinion in the Owls fanbase but is surely a prime footballing candidate given the fire-fighting jobs he has done at so many clubs down the years.
The Star understands that Nathan Jones is under consideration.
Let’s take a look at some of the out-of-work names that Wednesday could consider to get their season back on track.

Another former Sheffield United boss, he’s another name often linked with Wednesday. Comes expensive but is available having left Dynamo Moscow in May. Photo: Simon Bellis

14. Mick McCarthy
A man constantly linked with the Wednesday job in recent years, McCarthy is local to the area and has expressed interest in taking them on before. No nonsense and has a strong record in the second tier down the years, but was recently relieved of his duties at Cardiff having failed. Photo: Gareth Copley/Getty Images

15. Shota Arveladze
Out of work since leaving Hull City last year, he had a reasonable record in East Yorkshire. Photo: Nigel Roddis

16. Danny Cowley
Left Portsmouth last year having ultimately failed to drive the club towards their long-awaited promotion from League One. Was interviewed for the Owls job a few years back, but there’s no love lost between Cowley and Chansiri after the Owls owner name-checked him at a recent fan forum. Photo: Alex Morton/Getty Images
