Almost 2,500 Wednesdayites made the trip to East Yorkshire and Luhukay said it was their vociferous backing which helped the team to a hard-earned victory over the in-form Tigers.

It would have been easy for supporters to have been despondent going into this one, with many of them having made the journey to London to watch an awful performance served up against QPR in a 4-2 defeat to Loftus Road,

Watch Sheffield Wednesday players and fans celebrate their win over Hull City in fine styleut Owls fans were noticeably loud from the first kick of the game and Luhukay said that was one of the main reasons behind their success on the day.

Jordan Rhodes scored the game's only goal and Wednesday had to dig deep for long periods to keep out a Hull team who had scored 11 goals in three games prior to this encounter.

"I must say it, in almost every game our supporters, the fans give us so much motivation and energy, especially in the second half," said Luhukay. "It was not easy to defend the 1-0 but the fans gave the team energy to win today."
