While talented defender, Osaze Urhoghide is set to follow Liam Shaw (who is off to Celtic) out of the exit door at Hillsborough, there are several youngsters who they still remain hopeful of keeping hold of.

When announcing their academy retained list last month, Wednesday explained that Josh Dawodu, Charles Hagan and Josh Render had all been offered new deals as they look to take the step up into the senior team next season – however as yet nothing has been confirmed about their futures.

Dawodu’s representative has previously told The Star that the former Arsenal youngster ‘will be signing the new contract he’s been offered’, while it’s thought that Hagan is keen to stay and fight for his place if terms can be agreed.

There’s been no update, yet, on what the latest is on Render.

Meanwhile, the group of youngsters taking the step up from the U18s and into the U23s – who at this rate could well get their chance in the senior team during preseason – have been offered professional deals although there has been no confirmation of whether they’ve been signed or not.

Alex Bonnington, Paulo Aguas, Jay Glover, Will Trueman and Basile Zottos are all seen as ones for the future for Wednesday, and were part of Lee Bullen’s U23s as the season 2021/22 season came to an end, and the club will no doubt be hoping to get those deals wrapped up in the near future.
