A miserable first half effort ultimately meant little as Sheffield Wednesday came back from behind at Salford City to elbow past the League Two side in the Jersey Mike’s Trophy.
Wednesday were out-shot 10 to one in a dismal first 45 minutes before they grew into things, with David Keillor-Dunn nodding home his first Owls goal before Jamal Lowe stroked home from the spot following fine work from substitute Callum Slattery.
Debutant Joel Akpobi was the star man on a head-scratching evening - in which Wednesday took three points and another win into the international break.
Here are our ratings from the AIG Stadium.

1. Ashley Maynard-Brewer - 7
On debut, made a string of saves in a first half that the home side dominated - the evening would have been a whole lot different were it not for his efforts. | ugc

2. Liam Palmer - 5
Back in with the armband on. Couldn't help get things going and had fingers pointed for giving Woodburn too much space for the opener. Shifted over to the left in a pre-planned shuffle. | ugc

3. Ernie Weaver - 6
Stepping up for a chance to impress, he did the 'meat and drink' stuff strongly, throwing himself at shots late on and heading bricks. You'll always get effort. | ugc

4. Di'Shon Bernard - 5
So, so good to see him back. It's been a long wait and there was some symmetry to this being the place; he played his first-ever full league game here as a loanee six years ago. Naturally rusty in moments and look spent when he came off on the hour - a lovely outing to have witnessed. | ugc
