The Owls have set up in a new formation with an altogether more positive approach in their three matches back from the three-month coronavirus suspension and Monk admitted it was during that time away that the decision to step onto the front foot was made.
His side fell to their first defeat of the period against West Brom in midweek, conceding two second-half goals as Monk shuffled his pack in search of a result.

“We don’t have the biggest of squads, I understand that,” he said.
“Kieran was fantastic at the weekend but knowing his history and where he is, we have to look after him in this short period of games. So we put in Adam in as someone offensive.
“I’m trying to show, and I thought about this in lockdown, I want to be brave. I could have easily come out of lockdown, the way those results were, played the game tight and been hard to beat and try to get results that way.

“We’re going to be brave, we’re not just going to shut up shop. These three games have shown that.
“Overall in the three games everyone can see we want to be attacking teams and we want to be offensive. I think overall they’ve done it very well.
“It will take time to get it to a better standard, but I think they’ve had a really good go at it and they’ve shown a lot of what we’ve worked on in short space of time under demanding circumstances.”
