Sheffield Wednesday put in a five-star showing to pick up their biggest win of the season and secure three BIG points against Cardiff City.

Here are our ratings from a remarkable evening at Hillsborough:

Wildsmith – 8

Dealt with everything thrown at him, even though he was relatively untested. Marshalled things well.

Urhoghide – 8

Another very tidy display from the young defender who looked completely at home in the Owls defence. Didn’t put a foot wrong.

Lees – 9

The Tom Lees of old, playing his part at the heart of the defence to an absolute tee. Kept Cardiff at bay whenever they asked any questions.

Börner – 8

Got his goal to get the ball rolling early doors, and took it well, but he was just as assured in his defensive duties – even when the Bluebirds started to apply some serious pressure.

Palmer – 9

Arguably his best Wednesday performance in recent memory. Got up and down the right side tirelessly, defended strongly and made a beautiful assist for the second goal.

Bannan – 9

He was good against Watford, but today was almost the perfect Barry Bannan performance. He absolutely dictated everything in the middle and showed some real class throughout. The best player on the pitch.

Paterson – 9

Full of running, as always, but came with a real end product today as well. Took his goal remarkably well with a stunning finish, and his assist for Rhodes wasn’t bad either.

Hutchinson – 8

A tidy performance, if not a bit unspectacular. He did his job well in the centre of the park, and played

Reach – 9

Another one who will be delighted with his return today. His first goal was an absolute peach of a freekick that no goalkeeper in the world will have stopped, and he started the move that set up his second.

Rhodes – 8

Another goal for him to make it seven for the season. Played his part in the win and did what he does best when given the opportunity.

Windass – 9

No goal today, but led the line superbly for Wednesday and got two assists for his efforts. His energy was a big part of the victory, and will be very pleased with his performance.

Green – N/A

A late sub at 5-0.

Pelupessy – N/A

Came on late just to see the game out.

Kachunga – N/A

Another late sub.

Shaw – N/A

Wednesday’s final substitute
