There has been a largely positive response from fans to the news that Sheffield Wednesday have signed striker Steven Fletcher.
The former Sunderland man, who had a spell on loan at Marseille last season, today agreed a four-year contract at Hillsborough after signing on a free transfer.
Over on our facebook page, Owls fan Michael O'Keefe described the arrival of Fletcher as "great signing assuming he can stay fit," while Chris Walters wrote, "Fantastic & free as well."
Twitter, too, was awash with positivity after the news broke with many hoping this is the start of a raft of new faces heading to Hillsborough. "Good start I think. Now we must beef up the defence and a strong creative midfielder should be next on the drawing board," wrote @dentgr26.
@DaveOx57 wrote: "Fletcher good signing beat of strong competition for his signature let's go get McCormack now goals win games," and @liamroche464 added: "Fletcher is only the start. Don't know about anyone else but I think we need a solid centre back next to Lees."
Some were just quite excited.
"What a signing Stephen Fletcher is for us, especially at this level, hopefully bag us a few goal next season," said @93briggsy. "Steven Fletcher on a free could be the best bit of business in the Championship this season. F****** get in Wednesday!" added @jonnyowl and @seavaldinho gave praise to the boss: "From Steve Howard to Steven Fletcher. Bloody love you Chansiri you legend."
Other fans were keeping a lid on it.
@joemarshall_: "Steven fletcher spent time at marseille last year, so he will either do a Chris waddle or a modou sougou"
@joethehub: "Why have we signed a 29-year-old on a four year deal? Let's not even get into the fact it's bloody Steven Fletcher"
@OliverPepall: "Whilst I think fletcher is a decent signing, with the possibility of Ross coming in, could it prove a hindrance with all the forwards?"
All round, though, it's looking like a popular addition for the Owls. And this on the final day of the Early Bird season ticket offer, too.
