The Owls sit 15th in the Championship, nine places back on the sixth position they held at the turn of the year. And with pressure mounting on manager Garry Monk after their 5-0 defeat at Brentford on Saturday, a daunting run of three matches against promotion-chasers in a week may sound like a do-or-die territory to some.

Nottingham Forest are first up, though, and have been something of a happy hunting ground for Wednesday in recent years.

Incredibly, the Owls have won nine of their last 10 league matches against the twice-European champions, keeping clean sheets in three of their last four matches. They’ve also won their last four home matches against them.

The match may be in jeopardy after Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis was yesterday confirmed to have contracted coronavirus.

Arsenal players have been sent into isolation and their Premier League clash with Manchester City postponed after they came into contact with the Greek after their match with Olympiakos – who Marinakis also owns – 13 days ago.

He was present at Forest’s clash with Millwall on Friday and was seen in close contact with players and club officials.

The EFL’s last statement, released on Tuesday night, indicated there were no updated plans to postpone any matches.
