The likes of long-serving first-team players Sam Hutchinson, Kieran Lee, Atdhe Nuhiu and Fernando Forestieri are approaching the end of their current deals along with Joey Pelupessy, Sam Winnall and youngster Jack Stobbs.

Monk has spoken about the future of Matt Penney, whose contract is also up in the summer, maintaining the left wing-back will be given an opportunity to show the current coaching set-up what he can do.

“He’s someone that come the summer, we want to have a good look and give him the opportunity to show what he can do,” he said.

“It could be potentially a good fit. The age is good, the mentality is good, the profile for him is really, really good.”
