The EFL said there was "sufficient evidence" to charge the club last month in relation to "how and when" the ground was sold and its early inclusion in the 2018 accounts.
Promotion-chasing Wednesday have denied the allegations, which will be considered by an independent disciplinary commission, and threatened to bring a counter-claim against the governing body for compensation.

Speaking on the Sky Sports EFL podcast, Goodman said: "We all have to urge the EFL to take as swift action as possible when it comes to deciding which way they are going to go because if there is going to be a points deduction it will hinder Sheffield Wednesday; of that there is no question.
"But at this time of the season with so many points still available it may still not derail them depending on how bigger points deduction it is.
"It is horrible that we are having to talk and think about this."

Hide AdThe Owls - fifth in the Championship - are one of a number of clubs to have recently sold their ground to their owner or an associated company and leased it back as a loophole to avoid falling foul of the EFL's Profitability and Sustainability regulations.
Under P&S rules, second-tier teams are allowed to post losses of up to £39m over a three-year period.
Wednesday lost £9.8m and £20.8m in the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons respectively, but the sale of Hillsborough for about £60m helped them record a pre-tax profit of £2.5m in the 2017/18 campaign.
Without the controversial sale, the Owls would have posted a pre-tax loss of £35.4m and breached P&S regulations.

"Fingers crossed it can be resolved ASAP so everybody knows where they stand."
