Six-pointer? - What Chris Hughton said before Sheffield Wednesday’s trip to Nottingham Forest

Sheffield Wednesday travel to Nottingham Forest tonight as they seek an end to their torrid run of form, and the game could well be described as a ‘six-pointer’ for two teams at the wrong end of the table.

Wednesday are on an eight-game winless streak and haven’t won any of their games since Tony Pulis took over from Garry Monk, while Forest are seven matches without a win and have lost their last three in a row.

The hosts are currently 21st in the Championship with 13 points to their name, while the Owls are rooted to the bottom with nine points due to their six-point deduction. Both have only won three of their 18 matches.

With that in mind, a victory for either tea would be a huge boost as they seek to get back on track, but Hughton says there’s still a long way to go.

As quoted by the club’s official website, Hughton responded to the ‘six-pointer’ question by saying, “I wouldn’t say it is because of the part of the season that we are at. The exact same way that any team can go on a poor run of games in terms of results.

“This is such a tight league and any team can put a series of wins together to change things. That being the case, the mood changes and the whole feel of the place changes.

“You are always working as hard as you can for that to happen, but we are still young in the season, there is so much football to be played over a period of time, with a few games pre-January and numerous games post-January.”
