Windass got back among the goals on his return to action for the Owls over the weekend, opening the scoring for Tony Pulis’ side against Norwich City at Carrow Road, however his joy was short-lived after Wednesday were pegged back within the final 10 minutes.

The 26-year-old came off after just over an hour in Norwich, with his manager admitting that they were worried that he’d picked up a bit of a knock not long after he’d bagged his second Championship game of the season.

Speaking after the game in Norwich, Pulis told the media, “We’re a little bit concerned he’s got a bit of a thigh strain, so that’s another worry. But we need all of our players back in the team.”

But it sounds like Windass will be alright, with the player himself having now declared himself fit to face Huddersfield, a team where he spent his early years of football development.

He told the media, “I had a dead leg, but I’m alright, I’m sound… I feel fine this morning, I’ll be training today. So if I’m selected then I’ll be fit to play.”

Windass also waxed lyrical about the assist from Adam Reach after his teammate had put it on a plate for him over the weekend, saying, “As a striker, a lot of the time you’re relying on good service. You can make goals for yourself every now and again, but to be fair, that wasn’t even good service – that cross was just ridiculous.”

“I got a little bit of eye contact just before he got the ball, that’s why I made that darting run. Did I expect him to put it directly on my head? Probably not. But that was world class ability, and I couldn’t really miss.”

The forward, fitness permitting, is now in line to start again for the Owls on Tuesday night, and he will be desperate to get another chance to add to his Wednesday goal tally at the John Smith’s Stadium.
