The 25-year-old was almost ever-present last season for Wednesday, playing 45 games across all competitions as one of the club’s first choice centre backs.

He could have a new partner in 2020/21 though, with Chey Dunkley coming in as another option for Garry Monk in the centre of defence, but the former Wigan Athletic man is not a new acquaintance for ‘Big Dom’, even if he is new to the setup at Middlewood Road.

Speaking to The Star before Izzy Brown became the Owls’ third signing of the season, Iorfa said, “It’s been good. I’ve known Chey from before I’ve come here because he’s from Wolverhampton originally, so he’s someone I’ve known for the past five years or so.

“He’s a good lad, a good defender as well, so he adds more competition for us defenders, and that’s something that’s good for us to have.

“We’re at the stage where we’re just getting back to fitness right now, but he’s a loud lad, a bubbly character, so he’s fitting in straight away with the dressing room.”

Meanwhile, with regards to young midfielder, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Iorfa added, “As I’ve said, this week’s been about fitness really, but he looks like a big strong boy who is fit as well.

“I haven’t had much time to see what he’s about yet, but he’s a nice lad and he’s fitted in straight away with the group. Next week we’ll be doing more stuff that’s football-based, so it’ll be good to see how he integrates with the squad.”

The duo, as well as Brown, are all expected to travel to Loughborough University next week as Monk steps up the Owls’ preparations for the new campaign, and should feature against Leicester City next weekend in a preseason friendly that will be streamed live on the club’s official YouTube channel.
