Sheffield Wednesday winger excited about partnership with 'genius' Barry Bannan after 'insane' prediction

Louie Barry says team-mate Barry Bannan is a ‘genius’ and is excited about the partnership they have struck up on the pitch.
Barry scored his first goals for Sheffield Wednesday in Saturday’s 7-2 win against Bromley, and provided two assists. After creating the first goal for Callum Slattery, Barry got on the scoresheet himself less than 15 seconds into the second-half, with the 23-year-old revealing that Bannan had predicted what was going to happen at half-time in the changing room.
He explained: “Baz is a genius. He said to me and Mason (Burstow) ‘I'm gonna get the ball to you here, and you're gonna go two v one and then Louie will get a one v one and he's gonna score’. He said that. I swear. Literally exactly how we drew it up, which I think is insane.”
Barry said scoring in front of the Kop is one of the best feelings he had in football, describing the fans’ ‘roar’ as ‘incredible.’ He wants to experience those emotions regularly and his impressive record at League One level with Stockport County suggests there will be plenty more to come.
And there could well be many more goals with Bannan and Barry at the heart of them. The pair have seemingly struck up a friendship on and off the pitch which bodes well for Wednesday, who are in action on Tuesday night away at Wycombe Wanderers.
Barry added: “With Baz, you understand how he works very easily. If you work hard for him, if you make a run in behind as a winger, you're gonna get the ball because you know he's got a wand of left foot, doesn't he? The pass is always perfect as well. The pass is always in your stride, which as a winger you want because you don't want to lose your pace when you go in one v one. It’s really good having that sort of quality and experience next to you in this team. Long may it continue.”
