Boss Jos Luhukay has warned his Owls players to brace themselves for a Queens Park Rangers backlash tomorrow night.

The R’s, one place higher and three points better off than Wednesday in the rankings, were thrashed 4-0 by struggling Hull City last weekend.

Luhukay, who will be without the services of Barry Bannan (groin), told The Star: “It does not make the game easier for us.

“We also lost a game on Saturday so both teams will be trying to come into a new positive situation. Both teams will be wanting to get a good result after what happened last Saturday.”

On QPR’s drubbing at Hull, Luhukay said: “QPR had some problems last Saturday. They didn’t have the stability and balance. They will want revenge so we must look to ourselves. We have to focus on what we can do.

“We must be strong, stay together and believe in each other. We must trust each other that we can pick up a good result.”

Wednesday, lying in 16th position with five matches left, have picked up maximum points in their last two matches away from Hillsborough.

“It is a positive for our team and their confidence that we won at Leeds and Sunderland,” acknowledged Luhukay. “We must go to QPR now with confidence, really good focus and 100 per cent concentration if we are to pick up a positive result.”

Jacob Butterfield and David Jones are vying to replace Bannan in midfield. Luhukay has also hinted he is considering handing Fernando Forestieri his first start since August 2017. The attacker has featured as a substitute in each of the past three fixtures.
