The early rounds of the Carabao Cup can often be forgettable but those who were at Hillsborough on Tuesday night for Sheffield Wednesday’s tie with Rochdale will remember this one.

Few could remember a match in which three goals of such incredible quality were scored as the Owls booked their place in the next round with a 3-0 victory with all three strikes coming in the first half – all of them worldies.

Jadon Brown kicked things off with a long range effort after 23 minutes before Fisayo Dele-Bahsiru doubled the lead with a delightful curling effort on 36 minutes.

Dennis Adeniran capped things off wth arguably the best of the bunch just before the break as he drove forward before letting fly with an unstoppable shot.

"They were three wonderful strikes in front of 9,000 plus fans. It was a solid display,” said Darren Moore.

“I thought we gained control of the game really early doors. We settled down and moved the ball quite well in transitions. It was three wonderful strikes that won us the game.”
