Sheffield Wednesday boss Henrik Pedersen makes transfer admission following the closure of the window

Sheffield Wednesday’s work in the transfer market is now finished as far as Henrik Pedersen is concerned.

The Owls had a busy January transfer window in the end, with Barry Bannan, Bailey Cadamarteri, Yisa Alao, Nathan Redmond, Ethan Horvath, Harry Amass and Killian Barrett all leaving, while the likes of Marvelous Nakamba, Joel Ndala, Jerry Yates, Tayo Adaramola, Murphy Cooper and Jaden Heskey all joined the fight at Hillsborough.

Sheffield Wednesday’s squad is complete

Wednesday had to get special permission from the English Football League regarding their incomings due to their financial struggles and the fact that they’re in administration, but at least Pedersen was able to freshen up his ranks a little as his other players are run into the ground.

The transfer window closed on Monday, and though other clubs can sign free agents for the time being, the Owls boss admits that there will be none of that from a Wednesday perspective as things stand.

“This squad is our squad now,” he told The Star. “That’s how I see it. I don’t know if there are still some transfer windows that are open - so we can still sell players - but right now we cannot get any new players. We can get free transfers, but right now there are no spots. So for me I see it as a closed transfer window right now.”

Wednesday may have made new signings, but they’re still working from a threadbare squad over at Hillsborough, with no sign of players such as Dominic Iorfa, Max Lowe, Nathaniel Chalobah, Di’Shon Bernard and other injured players expected back imminently.

Changes are expected this weekend when the Owls take on Swansea City on Sunday afternoon, and it’s likely that fans will get to see three more debuts as Nakamba, Adaramola and Ndala look to try and make an immediate impact in blue and white.
