Sheffield Wednesday transfers latest as hard work continues behind the scenes
The Owls have signed new players so far this summer
Sheffield Wednesday are continuing to work ‘really hard’ on adding to their squad.
The Owls have made eight new signings so far this summer in Joe Lumley, Ricardo Santos, Sil Swinkels, Jordi Liongola, Callum Slattery, Barry Bannan, Louie Barry and Harry Gray. With almost a whole new squad to build, several more are expected to follow.
Wednesday had a productive and busy period last week, bringing in Gray, Bannan, Barry and Lumley. As the days tick by, fans are excited to see who might be next, with the rumour mill having gone a touch quiet.
Owls first-team coach, Pete Shuttleworth, said: "I know Simon (Wilson) is working really hard on it. I know last week we had a really good week where we brought three or four in and that was a really positive week. Obviously I would expect there would more to come, I know they are working really hard, Simon and the recruitment team, to make sure we have got a really competitive squad."
Bannan, who was in attendance at the friendly against Hallam on Tuesday night, returned to the club after a short stint at Millwall in the second-half of last season. The midfielder, 36, left in January but is back now and has an opportunity to add to his 477 club appearances and possibly gain another promotion from League One with Wednesday.
On Bannan re-signing, Shuttleworth added: "Brilliant. We know what he is like. We know what a talisman he has been for this football club for so long. We know what quality he will bring us in League One when we have got games at Hillsborough where teams come to defend low and he has just got quality. Everything he does is quality. It has been a big lift for all of us to get a player of that calibre back and he will have a great season, I am sure."
