A potential move for Sheffield Wednesday’s Jordan Rhodes has been described as ‘a hell of a move’ for the striker by a former Owl.

Alex Bruce, who spent a spell on loan with Wednesday back in 2005, played alongside Rhodes during a spell at Ipswich Town in the late 2010s, says reacted to reports linking the Scotland international with a move to Glasgow Celtic, insisting that it would be good business for the Scottish giants.

Rhodes has not had the easiest of times in S6 since making a permanent move from Middlesbrough in 2017, scoring just eight goals in 43 league games for the Owls following his big-money move after a relatively successful loan spell.

Speaking to Football Insider, Bruce said, “He’d be a good signing because one thing that Jordan does do, he knows where the back of the net is. He’s proven that at the majority of clubs he’s been at.

“It would be a hell of a move for him, I have to say, because he’s not really done much in the last couple of seasons but I could see it being a good fit… I definitely would see him scoring goals up in Scotland.”

Rhodes, a big earner at Hillsborough, will see his SWFC contract expire at the end of next season, and faces a very uncertain future once the 2019/20 campaign has reached its conclusion, along with some of his current teammates at the club.
