Sheffield Wednesday transfer target could cost £2m, Norwich eye powerhouse defender

Sheffield Wednesday put an end to their seven-match losing streak last night, as Darren Moore picked up his first point as Owls boss as his side drew 1-1 with Huddersfield Town at Hillsborough.

However, while results for the bottom half of the table were poor across the board, Birmingham City picked up a win under their new boss Lee Bowyer, meaning Wednesday now need to make up a nine-point gap on the Blues to avoid relegation.

Speaking after the game, Moore discussed Callum Paterson's own-goal that saw the Owls throw away their one-goal lead, and claimed: “It was a bizarre way to concede. If you look at the way we defended all night, we were pretty solid really apart from a couple of long range efforts when they were starting to get a bit desperate and were running out of one or two ideas.

“It was about us doing our jobs, but losing Sam (Hutchinson, to injury) at the time proved critical. He’s a solid citizen in there, he’s an organiser and he sees it. It’s something to work from in terms of the point.”

The Owls face another tough test this weekend, when they travel to take on high-flying Barnsley, who have won eight of their last nine matches, as they continue their unprecedented push for the play-offs.Here are today's biggest transfer stories and the latest team news involving Sheffield Wednesday and the rest of the Championship, as the build-up to the upcoming weekend's action begins:
