Sheffield Wednesday transfer news: Owls set to miss out on £12m winger and top tier defender in double blow

Another day, another twist in Sheffield Wednesday's roller-coaster season, as the Owls confirmed last night that their next two matches - against Coventry City and Wycombe Wanderers respectively - had been postponed due to a number of positive COVID-19 tests being recorded at the club.

The news will come as a blow to Owls fans, as the side, under caretaker manager Neil Thompson, had managed to find a bit of form following Tony Pulis' shock exit, winning their last three matches on the trot to extend their unbeaten run to five matches.

Meanwhile, the club continue to take their time to find a new manager, with the likes of ex-Wigan Athletic boss Paul Cook, former Man Utd star Roy Keane, and ex-Sunderland man Chris Coleman currently among the bookies' favourites to become the Owls' third manager of the season.

On the transfer front, a winger looks to be a key priority for the Owls, as they look to add some more pace in the wide areas and give their attack some much-needed potency. While a loan deal for rumoured target Jack Clarke - who is currently struggling to break into the Spurs team - looks unlikely, whispers are abound that free agent Andre Green, once of Aston Villa, could potentially arrive at Hillsborough this month.

As the January transfer window begins to liven up, we're likely to see a number of completed deals go through over the next couple of weeks. Click and scroll through the gallery to see all the latest news and transfer gossip involving Sheffield Wednesday and the rest of the Championship:
