Sheffield Wednesday transfer news: Owls-linked ace speaks out on future, Bournemouth starlet eyed by Arsenal

Sheffield Wednesday's struggle for consistency continued earlier in the week, when Neil Thompson's side were beaten 1-0 away against Stoke City, in a game that saw former Owl's ace Steven Fletcher net a late winner for the hosts.

The result sees Wednesday still languishing in the relegation zone, but the dismal form of a number of teams around them should mean that escaping the drop is still well within the Owls' means, with just one point currently lying between them and safety.

Discussing the Stoke loss, Wednesday's caretaker manager Neil Thompson gave some insight into the team’s reaction to the result, and revealed:

"The lads were disappointed. We know second half we didn’t performance as well as we could have.

"We said that when you’re at this stage of the season, the position that we’re in, the games aren’t going to be pretty and you’ve got to accept that. That goes with the territory, you’ve got to dig in, track your runners, tackle and run and then let your quality do the talking when you’ve got the ball.

“I thought we did that to a certain extent first but the second half we didn’t do that.”

The Owls will be eager to bounce back this weekend, in what is a 'must win' game against fellow strugglers Birmingham City, with whom they are currently level on points.

Here are today's biggest transfer stories and the latest team news involving Sheffield Wednesday and the rest of the Championship, ahead of another action-packed weekend of second-tier football:
