Sheffield Wednesday transfer news: Owls-linked ace eyed by arch-rivals, Swansea handed boost in striker search

Sheffield Wednesday finally ended their lengthy wait to announce a new manager yesterday morning, when it was confirmed that Darren Moore would be leaving Doncaster Rovers to take the Owls job.

The move has proved a largely popular one with supporters, who will be hopeful that the charismatic coach can haul the club out of the relegation zone over the coming weeks and avoid the drop down to the third tier of English football.

Speaking on his first press call as Wednesday manager, the former West Brom boss claimed: "It’s an excellent club steeped in tradition. The opportunity was difficult to resist, so I had little hesitation. I get my head down and do my job on a day to day basis.

"It’s wonderful when the work you’re doing is recognised by a club of this size and structure.

“I just want to keep working hard and give Sheffield Wednesday every ounce of myself in terms of getting the club moving forward."

Moore will take charge of his first game as Owls manager tomorrow evening, when his take take on fellow strugglers Rotherham United at Hillsborough.
