Sheffield Wednesday transfer news: Owls handed boost in race for in-demand winger, Celtic eye 30-goal striker

Sheffield Wednesday's battle for survival continues this weekend, when they take on Nottingham Forest at Hillsborough in an eagerly-anticipated Saturday lunchtime kick-off at Hillsborough.

As things stand, the Owls are 23rd in the Championship with just two matches to go, and they'll need to chase down Wayne Rooney's Derby County - who they face on the last day of the season - and relegate them to stay afloat.

Speaking ahead of the weekend, Wednesday man Liam Palmer discussed the club's path ahead under manager Darren Moore, and said: “Whatever division you’re in, you want a good mix of experience an youth and maybe a couple that are a bit different and bring that x-factor. We’ve had a good mix of that throughout the years.

“I can’t speak for the recruitment guys or the manager as to what his plans are because I don’t know, but I think he’ll be looking to keep some experience, bring in some youth and either keep some exciting players or bring some to the football club.”

Meanwhile, Owls ace Barry Bannan has claimed that the team have a real advantage in playing the early kick-off on Saturday, as it could pile the pressure on Derby and Rotherham United who play later in the day.

Here are today's biggest transfer stories and the latest team news involving Sheffield Wednesday and the rest of the Championship, as the build-up to this weekend's action continues:
