Sheffield Wednesday are in Wales as they prepare to kick off what is surely another seminal season for them back in League One and with clubs around them in the potential promotion stakes making moves, they’ll want to crack on sooner rather than later.

Owls boss Darren Moore is working with something of a skeleton squad as they embark on a 10-day camp that will end with a clash against Scottish giants Celtic next week.

But what’s going on elsewhere? Which Wednesday man could seal a deal to a direct rival? What’s the latest on the newest name to be linked with the Owls?

..and a host of Sheffield Wednesday's fiercest League One rivals - alongside the Owls themselves - are among those being talked about.

Let’s take a whistle-stop tour through some of the biggest transfer talking points in the division.

Bolton Wanderers have continued in their bid to make the move up to League One a smooth journey, signing Ian Evatt's former goalkeeper at Barrow. Joel Dixon, who built a solid reputation in his time with the Cumbrian minnows, signed on a free transfer.
One team that are certainly not messing about when it comes to sculpting their squad is Ipswich Town. Some 19 players are set to leave Paul Cook's side and they've brought in Reheem Harper from West Brom for a fee believed to be over £500k. Also in is QPR forward Macauley Bonne, who has already proven what a handful he can be in League One during his time at Charlton. He signs on an initial loan deal.
Sunderland will want to take their promotion bid further this season and though they look in real danger of losing a key man - more on that shortly - have set about adding some Premier League potential to their ranks in Manchester United midfielder Ethan Galbraith, who is rumoured to be joining on loan. The 20-year-old has two Northern Ireland caps.
Another of the 'bigger' clubs in League One yet to truly get going in the transfer market are Charlton, though as reported by The Sun, they are honing in on the signings of a new goalkeeper and a new centre-half. Owner Thomas Sandgaard took to Twitter to suggest transfer activity was imminent.
Charlie Wyke has quickly proven himself to be one of the division's top goalscorers and may have earned himself a switch to Scottish giants Celtic if rumours are to be believed. The former Bradford City man is reported to be close to a move up north and if a deal can be done, may even make his Hoops debut against Wednesday on July 7.
Sunderland legend Kevin Phillips has urged his former club to sign AFC Wimbledon free agent Joe Pigott if Wyke is to move on. He told Football Insider: "My only worry is, coming from Wimbledon, can he handle the pressure of playing for Sunderland. No disrespect to Wimbledon but Sunderland is a big step up. I haven’t seen too much of Pigott but the lad can score goals, that is clear. He could be the man to replace Charlie Wyke next season because it looks as if he will be moving on."
The Scottish Sun have linked TWO League One sides with the signing of St Johnstone skipper Jason Kerr. The 24-year-old defender played a huge part in their domestic Cup double last season but is a wanted man, with both Oxford and Wigan reportedly interested.
Another big club undergoing something of a transition is Portsmouth, who under Danny Cowley are hoping to start again. An eye-catching signing has been that of Ryan Tunnicliffe, on a free from Luton Town, who will provide presence in midfield. His signing was confirmed over the weekend.
It was confirmed some time ago that long-time Wednesday man Matt Penney would be leaving the club on a free transfer at the end of his deal. He'd been linked fleetingly with Swindon Town and then with QPR, but it seems a switch to ambitious League One promotion hopefuls Ipswich Town is on the cards and could be completed as soon as today [Monday].
This one has taken a few by surprise. Bolton Wanderers could be set to snap up former England youth international Xavier Amaechi if reports are to be believed. The subject of a £2 move from Arsenal to Hamburg, things haven't quite gone to plan for him in Germany and the 20-year-old winger and Football Insider report the Trotters have taken him on trial.
Reports by YorkshireLive over the weekend suggested Wednesday are interested in bringing Middlesbrough's former Rotherham United loanee Lewis Wing to the club. They face competition from the likes of Peterborough and Hull, it has been suggested, though Millers boss Paul Warne laughed off suggestions his former player would drop into League One.
