Sheffield Wednesday transfer deadline day: Seven deals that could be done today
and live on Freeview channel 276
We’re just a few hours away from the end of the January transfer window for another year and there’s plenty of business to be done across the Championship.
But what of Sheffield Wednesday? What deals will they look to get done? Here are seven of the names that could be heavily involved throughout the day.

Tom Pearce
With left-back a clear priority for the Owls, Wigan Athletic’s highly rated 22-year-old Tom Pearce emerged as a potential target over the weekend.
As The Star understands it, there has been no firm contact from Wednesday over a move. Yet. Things can move pretty quickly on deadline day and as the Owls already know, cash-strapped Wigan are in a position that requires them to accept deals at the right price.
Time is not on their side though, and the receivers in charge of the Latics’ business are known to want cash up-front. We’ll keep you posted.
Alex Hunt

The Star revealed last week that Wednesday had received enquiries from League One as to Hunt’s availability and some time away from the club may well make sense given his current place in the pecking order. How that balances off for the need for a full squad will be revealed by 11pm.
Josh Murphy
He’s been a name heavily linked with a loan move to Wednesday for a couple of weeks now.
Twin brother of last season’s Owls loanee Jacob, Cardiff winger Josh is a popular boy, having also been linked with Wednesday’s relegation rivals Nottingham Forest and Derby County.

An ace up the sleeve of Wednesday could well be the Bluebirds possible interest in one of the Owls strikers, though…
Jordan Rhodes
...that man is Jordan Rhodes, who for the fourth deadline day running is linked with a possible move away from Hillsborough.
After attracting headlines suggesting QPR were keen earlier in the window, Cardiff is the latest Championship club linked with offering Rhodes a way out of what has been a tough time at the club.

Harry Pickering
This one seems to be sliding away from Wednesday, but as we’ve seen so many times on deadline day, a lot can change in the window’s final hours.
Pickering, of League One Crewe, was said to be of interest to the Owls but as reported over the last couple of days is seemingly Blackburn-bound.
“The recruitment department look at a lot of players, the ones that are impressing in the lower leagues,” Neil Thompson told us last week. “They have a network of scouts have had a look, watching a lot of videos and that name has popped up. There’ll be one or two others as well.”
Liam Shaw

Hide AdAs revealed by The Star, Shaw is in talks with Celtic over a possible move at the end of his contract this summer, though we’re told nothing is especially imminent on that front. Wednesday, too, have tabled a contract offer.
However, it would be no surprise to see a club test Wednesday’s resolve with a late cash bid to ensure they receive something close to the 19-year-old’s worth. And in that event, you’d have to think the Owls would consider it. One to keep an eye on.
Lukas Jutkiewicz
A little bit of a shot in the dark this, we’ll admit, as Wednesday are yet to have been properly linked with the big forward.
But he surely ticks a lot of boxes for the Owls, who are on the hunt for goals, and is reportedly available for a loan move, with a handful of other Championship clubs said to be sniffing around. His club Birmingham signed Sam Cosgrove yesterday, which is seen as a like-for-like replacement for the 31-year-old.
