Sheffield Wednesday defeated Preston by a single goal and Hillsborough in the Championship yesterday.

Following the clash, caretaker manager Neil Thompson said he has been given limited information on the likelihood of incoming transfers at the club ahead of the closure of the transfer window on Monday evening.

The former Boston United boss has now steered Wednesday through a month since the departure of Tony Pulis but with a matter of days left until the end of the window is largely in the dark as to what additions the club are likely to make.

“Obviously there will be discussions in the air, but at the end of the day when a signing comes in, it’s only respectful that that signing isn’t revealed until he’s in the building."

Indeed, Thompson is now 11/10 to become Sheffield Wednesday’s next manager with bookmakers SkyBet stating that caretaker and interim managers completing at least 10 competitive games will be deemed the permanent manager.
