Sheffield Wednesday interested in sought-after 11-goal attacker as Owls peruse options

Sheffield Wednesday are working through a transfer longlist as they seek to launch their squad rebuild.

A 22-year-old League Two standout wanted by a host of EFL clubs is a transfer consideration for Sheffield Wednesday, The Star understands.

Spritely attacker Kyreece Lisbie, who grabbed 11 goals and eight assists in a midtable Colchester United outfit, has been the subject of a flurry of reports linking him with interest from higher up the EFL pyramid over the last few weeks. Among those reports came a suggestion that Wednesday were among the forward’s admirers - with The Star also of the understanding that interest is there.

As previously reported, The Owls are working through a long list of potential transfer targets, with progress expected to accelerate after the formal arrival of new sporting director Simon Wilson. Lisbie is believed to be one of a number of the Owls’ considerations in that area of the field. The likes of Huddersfield Town, Reading, Oxford United and Peterborough - where his twin brother Kyrell plays - are also reportedly interested.

The Owls are unable to sign new players for the time being as the club moves forward through the final stages of its exit from administration. It is expected the club will be able to lodge new registrations - and finalise contract offers - from the turn of the month. Lisbie was also said to have been the subject of widespread interest in January.

Wednesday struggled for danger going forward throughout what was a brutally difficult campaign last season. The club’s recruitment arm will have a host of priorities with positions to be strengthened from back to front throughout the squad, with senior club figures expressing a satisfaction with how things are moving forward at this early stage.

Lisbie, who joined the club from non-league Braintree Town in 2025, is believed to be under contract at the JobServe Community Stadium until 2027 and is likely to be sold this summer. A former Watford and Brentford youth figure, he is primarily a right winger who can play across the front line.
