Sheffield Wednesday ticket decision confirmed after West Brom request - heading for sell out

Slashed-price tickets and hopes for a mood of celebration have pushed Sheffield Wednesday’s final match of the season towards sell-out territory.

Sheffield Wednesday have made a final call on the lower allocation of Hillsborough’s West Stand ahead of their final match of the season against West Bromwich Albion, The Star understands. Amid a major ticket push in which the Supporters Trust have encouraged fans to launch into a ‘Honolulu Wednesday’ theme, the match is expected to sell-out and deliver its highest attendance of the campaign.

Relegation-threatened West Brom requested their fans be allocated both the top and lower tiers of the West Stand for the clash, with a decision to be made dependent on how home tickets sales went. West Brom announced that they had sold out their allocation for the match and The Star has since had it confirmed that the lower tier will be taken by Wednesday supporters.

The match saw £20 tickets put on sale across all four stands, with lower prices set for concessions. It is hoped that the club will be under new ownership by the time the match comes around, with Arise targeting the completion of their takeover for May 1 - the day before the game.

A Trust statement read in part: “Through all the frustration, the uncertainty, and the moments when things didn’t feel as they should, one thing never changed. The supporters.

“We stood together. We carried this club when it needed us most. And that unity is something every Wednesdayite should be proud of. Now, looking ahead, this feels like the perfect moment for one last supporter-organised demonstration of togetherness. Not in protest, but in hope. In pride. In support of the next chapter.

“Let’s pack Hillsborough. Every stand. Every seat. Every voice. Let’s create something that reflects exactly who we are and what this club means to us.

“It’s also the perfect chance for first games, for little ones to fall in love with Wednesday, and for the next generation to feel what makes this club different. A sea of Wednesday. Honolulu Wednesday.”
